uFLOW is built on a team concept. Each team consists of approximately 15 students, and 15 mentors. While the 1-on-1 mentoring provides a personal guide for each student, the 15 peer students provide a support network and a sense of belonging for each student. It also makes the program more fun for each student.

Another advantage of the small team structure is that it provides an opportunity for any person or organization to start their own team in their community. Starting a team requires recruiting students and volunteers, finding a suitable location for events, and tracking the progress of those students.
